Joyful Jigsaws feature images which are spiritual by design and Joyful by nature.  Each jigsaw is lovingly created and captures the essence of my original artworks, which are mindfully painted in flow, one piece at a time. As an artist I like to paint things that resonate with me in attempt to understand what I know and feel about the world that I live in. I love to capture moments, feelings, thoughts; and share with you my souls’ lessons and learnings on this wonderful journey.

Jigsaws are much more than a game, a hobby, or a pastime, they are a portal to mindfulness and relaxation.

At Joyful Soul Creations I take puzzling a step further by integrating art, mindfulness, and reflective practice in a unique and nurturing way, helping you tap into the wisdom of your own soul.

Jigsaws for health and wellbeing

Mindfulness: Jigsaws are a great tool for practicing mindfulness and provide a very tactile way to zone into

 the here and now:

  • They are a unique form of self-care that can beincorporated into your daily routine. 
  • They provide a physical anchor to focus your attention.
  • Your mind enters a state of flow as you sift through and sort pieces.
  • Puzzling provides a meditative state where time and worries melt away.

Stress Busting: Jigsaws are a great way to switch off from your troubles for a while.

  • Focusing on the task allows us to find moments of tranquillity in the chaos of our daily lives.
  • The satisfaction you get from finding the right piece is a great mini mood booster.
  • Completing a puzzle provides a sense of accomplishment and control which can be very therapeutic in times of stress and uncertainty.
  • The satisfaction of placing the final piece gives us a small victory in the pursuit of inner peace.

  • Jigsaws improve focus, attention span, analytical thinking, critical thinking, and logical reasoning. Both sides of the brain are used - the left side sorts the pieces logically while the right works intuitively to see the big picture.
  • Are jigsaws addictive? Yes-your brain releases dopamine not only when you complete your puzzle but in dozens of little doses along the way!

Improved dexterity - by its very nature doing a jigsaw improves dexterity. All the picking up of pieces, rotating, flipping, and fitting them into the puzzle in just the right way is fantastic exercise for your fingers and eyes too!

Connections - Jigsaws are great way to bond and spend moments of quiet relaxation with family and friends. Tackling a puzzle together is also a nice way to introduce teamwork with a lovely collective sense of achievement at the end.
